An invitation has been extended to all ESR’s to visit the Air Traffic Control (ATC) Tower at Aberdeen Airport to see the workings of the new Multilateration System, how it works, the complexities associated with it and it’s benefits to the oil and gas industry. The multilateration system is the new air traffic control tool being used to track aircraft movements more closely and accurately
John Mayhew (NATS) is asking if volunteers from the Safety Reps Forum would like to visit the facility within the ATC Tower to see Multilat in operation of approximately 10 at a time, this function will be coordinated by the Step Change Support Team during September and October 2009.
This is a unique opportunity to witness first hand the working of ‘behind the scenes’ operations.
Anyone wishing to take advantage of this opportunity should send an e mail to Step Change ( info@stepchangeinsafety.net ) with details of when they will be available during the two months mentioned and we will coordinate with the ATC and get back to you with timings and details, bearing in mind there will have to be a degree of flexibility regarding days and times.
