The Step Change in Safety networks are the key means for promoting workforce involvement in Step Change in Safety.

There are four networks::

• Elected Safety Representatives (ESR)
• Site Leadership (OIMs & Supervisors)
• Focal Points (FP)
• Safety Professionals (SPAN)

The purpose of the networks is to:

• Provide a forum for discussion, debate and problem-solving on issues of concern
• Share best practice
• Enable the workforce to shape the Step Change in
  Safety agenda

Focal Points have a special role to play. They are formally appointed into the role by the company MD/CEO and have specific roles and responsibilities. They act as the main communication link between their organisations’ senior management, the networks and Step Change in Safety.
